Falling Waters State Recreation Area – Map, Attractions and Activities
This park features a 67-foot waterfall whose source is an underground stream. The stream plummets into a 100 foot deep sink hole, making for a very beautiful sight. There are several short trails for your hiking pleasure. Some of these trails are on wooden boardwalks including the observation platform at the waterfall. Other trails take you on a tour of the area’s sink holes and to the swimming lake. The Sink Holes trail has been updated and a Butterfly Garden has been added.
Although we did not camp at the park we had a wonderful afternoon and we wanted to share that experience with you. Perhaps you are planning to visit this park soon, or you just want to see some fantastic pictures of the waterfall and sink holes in the park. Read the rest of this entry »
Scuba Dive Sites: Mexican Pride Wreck
With seas running at about 1 foot we made the 36 mile run out of John’s Pass to the (wreck) Mexican Pride. After 80 and down to the deck of the Mexican Pride at 100 feet the water got kind of dark but still was about 20-25 foot. Read the rest of this entry »

Blackwater, Coldwater: A Florida Canoeing Adventure
The sugar white beaches and meandering currents of the Blackwater River have made Milton the Canoe Capital of Florida. A former trading post, Milton first bore the colorful name of Scratch Ankle. The first settlers, it seems, had a heck of a time climbing the briar-blanketed banks of the tea colored river that bisects the town.
Now the seat of Santa Rosa County, Milton is best known for its annual Scratch Ankle Festival and the redbrick charm of its historic downtown.
But it’s Milton’s recreational magnificence that makes it famous. Read the rest of this entry »
